How can we pass a free text attribute to planning from Sales Order

We have created EFF at sales order line level to be passed to planning for attribute based planning. This attribute is used just to link the demand with it's supplies.

As of now, only value sets with validation type = "table" or "independent" are getting collected to Planning. The issue with this is, we have to pre-define values. We would like to pass a free text EFF to Planning but if we define value set with validation type = "format only" then it's not getting collected to planning.

Would like to know if there is any way to pass free text/format only EFF to Planning?
