prevent generate invoice process deletes draft invoices

is it possible to prevent the generate invoice process to delete draft invoices?

if a draft invoice is generated and updated (adding notes, documents, comments ….) and before this invoice is approved the generate invoice process runs again, the draft invoice is deleted and changes are lost. there is no parameter to drive this behaviour?
