BOM Sequencing is Not Followed in Reconfiguration

When configuring a product, Bill of Materials (BOM) is generated based on the BOM sequence number, and this hierarchy is transferred to the commerce transaction line. However, upon reconfiguring and adding new items, parts/items do not appear in the BOM hierarchy within the line item grid. Is there a way to ensure the BOM hierarchy is maintained in the line item grid?
