what is the standard way to load purchase leave accrual?

We are wanting to know the following:
- what is the standard way to load purchase leave accrual
- Is it okay to override calculation of the leave balance
ex. There was a calculation July 31 2024 a new one was done on May 31 2025. Note that there is a leave balance of 76 hrs for July 31 2024.
