In Oracle Product Hub, while defining a validation rule, how to get value for Item Number for comparing it with a value?

For example, in If expression, I need to use something like

substring[Item].[Main].[Item Number, 1, 1) == 'XYZ'

However, system returns and error saying Item Number attribute is not valid.

Can you help regarding this?
