Retrospective enrolments - query enrolling employee on an offering after end date

Hi, would it be possible to ask for some advice. The company I work for moved to learning in Oracle Fusion at the beginning of December 23. Our learning department encountered an issue where they have been retrospectively assigning employees to a number of offerings after the end date and then marking them as completed. In doing so where the enrolment is required they have put the due date a day after they have completed the enrolment.
The scheduled alert is sending the employee an assignment for this offering with a date in the past but has a a due date in the future. Thus causing confusion for the employee, even though they have already attended. I have advised learning they should try to avoid retrospective enrolments and as far as possible they should be enrolling employees ahead of the offering date. But is there anyway to do deal with retrospective enrolments that doesn't trigger a notification.
