Managing Aggregation Properties for Mixed Revenue/Contra-Revenue

edited Aug 15, 2024 2:15PM in Enterprise Data Management 4 comments

Summary:

Client's chart has both Revenue and Contra-Revenue accounts under the same parent node. In such cases, how do others deal with the Aggregation properties for a Planning application, where the operator needs to be flipped on the Contra accounts, versus the Revenue accounts?

Content (please ensure you mask any confidential information):

The Aggregation properties for Planning are relationship-based, rather than node-based. This means that when deriving them, they can only be overridden at the summary-level, not at the bottom node-level. If the chart of accounts mixes Normal and Contra accounts under the same parent, there doesn't appear to be any way to correctly set the operator for aggregation on the Contra accounts. We're working with the client to restructure their chart to avoid such direct mixing of account types at the same parent level, but that's a longer term solution. Are we overlooking an easier (faster) one?

Howdy, Stranger!
