Getting "Error response during RestAction" Error while defaulting Values in the page

Hi,

I am defaulting two values in 'Hire an Employee' page 'When and Why' region.
1) Business Unit
2) Legal Entity

The Values are getting defaulted. But I am getting an error that says, "Error response during RestAction".

How can I solve this Error?

I also have another question how to default a date value?

As you can see in the above image this field already has a default value which is an expression. How do I default current date to this field?
