How to auto-approve a time card when submitted by a Line Manager?

The TimecardApproval has been customised so that a time card will be automatically approved when submitted by a Line Manager. However, after submitting a time card, I am receiving an approval notification and the time card remains in a Submitted status until I have approved it.
