Reset Cost Accounting first period

Summary:

We have configured Cost Accounting for go live in Oct-24 and used "Oct-24" as the first period for the Cost Book. There is discussion about changing that first period to Sep-24. We don't have any transactions created in Cost Accounting as it's brand new. Can we delete existing Cost Book and re-create it with Sep-24? Is this the normal way of fixing it since we have a short window for that?
