When we change definition org to reference org is there any impact?

Summary:

Currently one of our customer wants to change the child orgs from definition org to reference org. Is there any impact of this on procurement side. Customer has more than 40 inventory orgs which needs to be converted to reference orgs.

When I am converting the from Definition org to Reference Org, I am getting this error
At least 1 item attribute used in procurement doesn't match the item attribute in these organizations: SMI1_WH, SMIM.
