Use cross dock logic/functionality in inventory management without WMS

We have scenario for cross docking. However, WMS is not implemented. Is there any workaround to achieve this in standard inventory management module?

We have identified below workaround, would be helpful to get other ideas from the community.

  • Create a subinventory - 'Cross Dock'
  • Release, pick and ship sales order from this 'Cross Dock' sub-inventory
