How to Update the Task Inventory Attribute for an Item Using the Serial Number

The Task Inventory Attribute for an item is blank and needs to be corrected. The record can be viewed in Inventory Management > Manage Serial Numbers, however, the Task cannot be updated from this page. The Create Project Transfer option using the Serial Number will not work because the Task is required. How do we update the Task on this specific item for this specific serial number?
