Form spam protection on external landing pages

We are hosting an Eloqua form with Form Spam protection on an external landing page and using the custom honeypot option.

When we submit the form from an Eloqua landing page, it submits correctly, when we submit from the external page, the submissions go into spam submissions.

I checked the code on the external site and everything looks correct. What potential issues could there be when using this feature on an external page?
