Product Notice: Alert Related to Chrome and Firefox's Distrust of Entrust Certificates [Nov 2024]
Distrust of TSL Certificates (AKA SSL Certificates) Signed by Entrust
Recently, Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox browsers announced their browsers will stop trusting TLS certificates (AKA SSL certificates) certified by Entrust and AffirmTrust. Specifically, those TLS server authentication certificates signed after the stated date (below) will not be trusted by the browser, and the browser will not establish an HTTPS connection with the impacted hosts.
- Chrome: November 11, 2024 23:59:59 UTC
- Firefox: November 29, 2024 23:59:59 UTC
The browsers will continue to trust TLS server authentication certificates (until said certificates expire) that were signed before the dates above for the respective browser. However, after November 30, 2025 (next year) our edge host, Akamai, will stop supporting certificates signed by Entrust and AffirmTrust, and will remove said certificates from Akmai's environment.
