What is the use of shift type ‘Flexible’, ‘Punch’ and ‘None in Manage Shifts

Employees have 8 hours shift starting at 7:00 am, 8:00 am and so on. Rather than creating the same 8 hours shifts with various start time, we would like to know if we can utilise the shift type to strictly not consider the start time in absence duration calculation and rather go with the total hours for the day.
