Monthly Entity Restructures/Reorgs

Has anyone experienced monthly entity restructures/reorganizations (not Org by Period)? We have an application with approximately 6,000 entities across 6 hierarchies, where entity restructures/reorganizations occur every month. This process involves re-consolidating 5+ years' worth of data, which is currently taking about 20-30 minutes per period.

Additionally, each restructure requires unlocking approval units. Does anyone have suggestions on how to automate the mass unlocking of approval units?
