Group facets under headings?

Summary:

We have a requirement to group facets (product attributes) under a common heading on the listing pages.

For example:

Performance

Time

x

y

z

Speed

a

b

c

Is it possible to do this OOTB? I know we can extend/customize the facets widget and hard code the groupings, but we are searching for another method that isn't so drastic,
