Inactive approver in workflows

Summary:

Hello experts,

We have a few transactions with inactive approvers (they have left the company), and these transactions are blocked.
I've tried escalating the transaction to the manager, but once he/she approves, the inactive user is still listed as an approver.
I can't skip these inactive approvers. How can I proceed to move forward with the workflow?
