Possibility to load contract extension in HDL without adding a corresponding assignment row

Is there a way to load contract extension in HDL without adding a corresponding assignment row?

When contract extension is added in redwood page Employment Contract page, there is no corresponding assignment row getting created. However when uploading contract extension in HDL we have to load Contract along with WorkTerm and Assignment Business Object. To keep it consistent, is there a way to extend the contract in HDL just in the Contract business object?
