Partial Approval in manufacturing for a lot with material status

Hello, I have the following scenario:

We created a manufacturing work order and generated a lot. We need to do a WIP Inspection. The lot generated has a material status. If there is partial approval in the inspection and some of the items are scrapped/rejected, do they remain in the lot? what happens in this scenario because we need an action to update the status of the accepted items after the inspection.
