Contract Approval Notification Deadlines

We are using job based hierarchy for Contract Approvals. Notification is sent to multiple approvers. When Approver 1 does not respond in say 3 days the approval should move to the next level. But if there is just one approver then it should wait and not auto approve after 3 days.
