Cloning Environment fails at the Essbase Data import step

Summary:

I am trying to clone my PBCS production environment to the corresponding test environment and I run into an error stating that Essbase data import is only supported during create application.

The test application currently exists and I was hoping to just overwrite everything with the snapshot. When trying to just import the Essbase data section of the snapshot, I get the same error.

Does this mean that I'd need to remove the target application prior to running the cloning process (Overview/Actions/Remove Application). If so, is that the best practice?
