Auto-populated custom field

Hi,

I created a custom field in "Additional person info" and I want to know if is possible to make it auto-populated.

So when a new employee is hired (and also the existing employees), the custom field will show in automatic a specific values of the lov created in manage common lookup.

It's technically feasible?
