BI Publisher Report Question

One of the fields that's being exported to excel in a BI Publisher Report contains line breaks within the actual characters. The business does not want to export to CSV but would like to have the line breaks removed because they are causing issues with using the report. I cannot find any documentation on how to do this. Can you point me to the right documentation for this procedure or setting
