Absence Setup Issue - System Calculating Multiple Absence Days for Users with Multiple Assignments

I have already completed an absence setup, however, I'm encountering an unexpected behavior. When a user with multiple assignments submits a leave request, the system is incorrectly calculating the absence duration by considering both assignments.
For instance, if a user submits a leave for one day on 12-12-2024, the system is generating two absence days instead of one.
Is this the expected behavior?
I have discovered a setup that requires the user to explicitly specify the assignments to which the absence should apply. However, my requirement is to ensure that the absence days are calculated at the person level, regardless of the number of assignments the user holds.
