Change a Default Value using sandbox

Summary:

Hello

We have a requirement to default "Orders" (From a LOV) to the field "Search" based on the Manage Orders right tab. We have tried defaulting the value using sand box. However, the value is hidden after making the change through sand box pr stays with the "Requisitions information"

Please advise as to how the above requirement can be cattered
