Generating Lease Payment Approval journals for maintenance portion with disabled Liability and ROU

My client has a requirement to use two lease templates for a single lease—one for the lease itself and another for the maintenance portion. According to Oracle guidelines, we need to disable Liability and ROU for the maintenance part. However, when these are disabled, the Lease Payment Approval journals are not being generated for the maintenance portion. Has anyone else faced a similar requirement? How can this issue be handled? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!
