How to retain BOM Product price on Asset Amendment?

Summary:

In our implementation, BOM product prices are fetched from Pricing Portal on new model configuration and asset is created. When we amend the same Asset, the updated price from Pricing Portal is displayed for the existing BOM products. We have a requirement to retain the existing BOM prices instead of new price from portal. What is the expected behaviour for BOM prices on amendment out of the box?
