Lot generation following business rules

Summary:

For a special kind of manufactured finished good (that might be managed within a single inventory organization), our customer needs to generate different lot numbers when completing the work order. However, they need the lot number to follow some rules for its generation like for example:

• 2 first digits for the year
• 3 following digits for a sequence
• 1 last digit for another type of sequence

Is there anything that might help doing so unless entering those lot number sequences manually? Either directly from the application or through an integration?
