Custom Project Role- Role cannot only view projects they are a member of

Summary:

We are creating custom roles and the client has determined that certain roles should only have access to projects they are a member of. We cannot reach this outcome- only being able to limit projects based on expenditure organisation. How can we create a role that only see's projects they are a member of?
