Org Hierarchy Restructure/Changes Affect on Archived Data

Summary:

Has anyone had experience with org restructure/changes that have affected historical archived data? We need to make a few changes to our org structure but we are afraid that will affect all of our archived planning and workforce planning data since it obviously lives on the same hierarchy, just on an archived version. Are there best practices to doing this?
