Half day calendar event displays 8 hours duration in employee calendar.

We have created a half day event which is one day before Christmas holiday but in the employee Calendar for the half day event is shown as 8 hours however while applying absence system allow to apply only for half day or 4 hours which is correct. But the duration displayed is 8 in the calendar. Is there anything we can do to correct this?
