Validation Rules not working on forms in Smart View

When creating a validation rule on a form and selecting cell styles in Smart View (default), the cells on the form should be formatted according to the validating rule.

However, nothing is formatted.

We didn't change anything on the forms.

The cell style selection I'm referring to in Smart View is this, which is the default when you open a form:
