Alternate barcode ending with + sign not getting uploading via Input interface UI

Summary: Item Barcodes needs to be uploaded from Input interface UI. There is a barcode value which ends with + sign. It is not getting uploaded and giving an error of "Item Barcode not found". I tried to create the barcode manually from Alternate item barcode UI but is not taking + sign.

Checked the Company Parameter UI with parameter- BARCODE_VALID_CHARS and it does have the value + in param value.
