Can position sync recognize when a manager is out on LOA and update direct reports to +1 manager?

Summary:

Our position sync configuration currently uses HCM Position Hierarchy for the line manager. When a manager goes out on LOA but remains in their current position, their direct reports do not receive a position sync row updating their current manager to the +1 manager. This means all pending and new transactions are being routed to the manager who is on leave because the ESS job to update transactions does not catch this scenario.

When a manager goes out on LOA we would like the position sync to update the line manager of their direct reports to the +1 manager until the manager returns to Active status. Is there a way for the system to recognize that the parent position incumbent's status is not Active and update the manager hierarchy to the +1 incumbent until that changes?
