Can we use Packing Units Concept for generated LPN and Lots during Work Order completion

Summary:

Client produces Metal Coils (Lot Controlled) and packs multiple coils into LPN Numbers and store in Inventory. These transactions are interfaced via shop-floor MES system.

When SO Picking , Shipping happens, Client picks the LPNs through Bar Code Scanner.

We are trying to avoid WMS as it will complicate the Inventory Tracking.

So, Can we use 'Packing Units' feature in Inventory to store LPN Numbers (generated from MES) and its contents (Lot Controlled Items).
