Changing Cost Account for Existing Category

I have a query regarding Oracle Fusion Assets. We need to change the cost account associated with an existing asset category. The field is currently grayed out, likely because the category is already in use. I understand that accounting rules for asset categories are generally locked once assets are assigned. However, I'd like to know if there's any workaround or process to achieve this change. Any insights would be greatly appreciated.
