Issue with geography Alternate Names and Vertex patch impact on geography load

Hi Team,

As part of our geography setup, we have loaded geography data for the US from Vertex and for other countries from Loqate. Within the geography data, we’ve noticed that alternate names are defined. We’d prefer not to use these alternate names, as they create inconsistencies. For example, if one employee uses the full abbreviation while another uses the code, the database stores the same values which was selected by user while entering the address.

Since we’ve loaded data from Vertex for the US and Loqate for the rest of the world, I would like to confirm if any patches delivered by Oracle for Vertex or Loqate will impact the alternate names we’ve deleted. Additionally, will these updates be applied automatically, or will we have control over when we refresh the geography data? If we can control it, we would prefer to manage when to apply any updates, or alternatively, ignore them if needed.
