Moving a order from one shipment to another removes order movement

While trying to use the action 'move order to existing shipment' on an existing order release that is planned to a shipment, we are experiencing an outcome where when this order finally gets linked to the target shipment and de-linked from the previous one, we find that there is no order movement that is linked to this order release anymore. The underlying issue that emerges out of this anomaly is that most of the existing workflows that are using join conditions for order releases and shipments using order movements are failing.
