Redwood OTL Absence Types error on mandatory Fields

We have recently turned on Redwood for OTL and have come across an issue with the integrated Absence Types and the mandatory fields in the timecard. Please see screenshot below.

With the Responsive UI this was not an issue, the Absence Types were exempt but not Redwood it appears unless anyone know what to do?

If nothing can be done, as a work around we are thinking of turning the mandatory fields requirement off and creating a time entry rule to invalidate on null entries for the required columns (i.e. not for Absence Types)
