How can you find what is causing the NR database to be large?

Backup sizes of Narrative Reporting application are extremely large and I'm trying to figure out what is causing this.

Content (please ensure you mask any confidential information):

Our production and QA NR applications are backed up every night. The compressed size of the production application is over 7GB. The compressed size of the QA application is 454MB. Both are connected to the same locations for source data and all development for our planning application reports are done in the QA application and brought over.

I ran a command to list files and there aren't any significant reports that are showing there. The only thing that makes sense to me is that somehow the application is storing copies of the historical reports that are run with their data, but I can't find anything like that in the files. What could possibly be causing the size of the application to be so bloated compared to the QA environment and how do we clean it up to fix it?
