Functionality of updating the Catalogs in Pricing Parameters

Is there any particular Use case where we need to update the Catalog values in Pricing Parameters.

At present, the values are empty in the instance.

Please let us know if we need to add the Catalogs (mandatory? ) here to have Pricing working as intended in General.
