Document fyi notification when purchase order is implemented

Summary:

Hi,

we have this business scenario:

• a custom program is creating multiple purchase orders via REST API (about 10K records)
• orders are created bypassing the approval
• by standard the notification is sent to buyer and requester (if present) when the orders are approved (status open)

Is it possible to make the document FYI notification sent for only manual created purchase orders and not for the automatic created orders? Can we filter somehow the notifications to be sent?
