Ability to send notification/email to users who are assigned new learning initiative

Is there the ability to send notification/email to users who are assigned new learning initiative through alerts composer? Users are currently notified of a new assignment using standard alert 'New Learning Assignments' but when a new learning initiative is assigned, the user does not receive any notification or email asking them to complete learning.
