How to tie orders to a specific ground schedule shipment based on matching dates?

Summary:

We want to be able to tie orders sent from customer to a specific ground schedule shipment existing in the system where the dates exactly match.

For example, a ground schedule shipment is created and sent out to the customer. Customer creates and sends orders to OTM with the dates matching the ones on the shipment. The orders are sometimes sent to OTM past the pick update i.e., a few hours after the pick up date - there is no impact. However, while trying to bulk plan, these orders are getting assigned to next weeks' ground schedule shipments.
