Duplicate forecast because of Consumption based Forecast

Summary:

We have prospective healthcare client, which is looking to implement DM and Replenishment planning. I had some questions

  1. They have stores and central warehouses. What is the benefit of capturing the consumption history for forecast? If the stores are getting the demands from customers and they would fulfill the demand from Central warehouse. Does it makes sense to collect the consumption history ? Would'nt it duplicate the forecast as there would be a forecast at store as well as Central warehouse?
  2. Is there any difference if we used only replenishment planning for forecasting as well, as I go to know that DM does not support sub inventory level forecasting. So if we want to use DM, we cannot configure the stores as sub inventory ?
