Rest API to update remaining life of an asset

Summary:

We are trying to automate a process in which we would like to update the remaining life of an asset after creation. Currently, the remaining life is defaulted from Asset category but in our use case the remaining life needs to be derived and then updated. We would like to know the REST API to make this update
