Possibility to deactivate a process app in OPA without loosing the running and completed app data

Summary:

We are live with Process Application and today got some error in Production.

To fix this we will possibly need to create a new version of the application after some fix.
Now the challenge is that if we deativate and purge the process application as instructed, this will result in the loss of running and completed application data.

This is a big risk for the customer. Please lewt us know:

1. How can we deactivate a process application without loosing the current running application data so that the end user doesn't need to restart the process.
2. If it is not possible, how are we supposed to handle the in-flight process application, as loosing production data is not acceptable.
