Is it possible to change the translation of custom document types?

Summary:

We are implementing Oracle HCM for our international companies are we have a general issue, that the name of the document type is only available in English. We are using custom document types and would like to translate them into German, Swedish, etc..

If I try to login to the system with the local language (by changing the preferred language) I'm not able to change the type of document because it's greyed out. I'm wondering if anybody else has faced this issue and how they have solved it.
